Project Overview

Title of Project: 4H Mentoring

Abstract of Project: My EGDE project will be mentoring elementary to junior high students through the 4H program. 4H is and after school program that helps student in their studies as well as giving them someone they can look up to. 

Larger Purpose: I believe this project will help me in my future endeavors because of how it will help me to be a better people person. It will help me be able to be a better leader and how to lead a group of people who have different personalities. 

Project Goal: For my EDGE project I want to help students learn how they can better their studying to become a a better student as well better citizens in their communities. 

1-3 Outcome(s): I expect to be able to use this volunteering on my application to medical schools. It will also just be a benefit to me as I will also learn from this kids as I help them. 

Deliverable(s): At the end of this project I won't be able to really have something to turn in other than my experiences that I have with these children. I am going to keep a journal how my experiences so that I can remember them as well as show them to others. 

Differentiation: This project will make me stand out in my field because it will show that I have skills that allow me to interact with all different kinds of people. In the medical field this can be extremely valuable because it means you can help more people. 

Estimated Costs: My project is actually going to cost me nothing as I will be volunteering my time to spend with these kids. 

Estimated Timeline: 

I have actually already started my project by volunteering with 4H twice a week. My plan is to continue doing this for the rest of the current semester and into next semester.
